I (and I assume many of your readers, too) would be interested in your thoughts on the looming national debt crisis. Thanks for your wonderful Substack, Dr. Brands!
More and more, Trump reminds me of Andrew Jackson- both anti-establishment figures who achieved success due to their popularity with unappreciated voters, and who both violently disliked having a central U.S. bank.
Trump is NOT anti-establishment, he is pro-billionaire, supporting the interests of Elon Musk, Putin, Peter Thiel, etc., etc. He’s just a master at pulling the wool over the eyes of working class people for whom has never done any favors in his life.

Thank you so much, Dr. Brands. Your thoughtful analysis is always valued and appreciated!
An important reminder of one of the many public benefits Americans take for granted. BTW, off topic, did you see Rep. Raskin giving a shout out to your book Our First Civil War: https://slate.com/podcasts/what-next/2024/11/jamie-raskin-is-getting-ready-for-trumps-second-term
Thanks for pointing this out.
