You’d do well to read the material on Aaron Burr on canadianpatriot.org for a fuller historical picture outlining his treasonous activities.

“Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying war against them or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.” Hmm, does accepting millions of dollars worth of cyberattacks from our enemy, Russia, on our election in order to win the White House (“Russia, if you’re listening…”) count?

Treason under the Constitution of the United States is not “I don’t like you because your idea of these United States does not comport to my idea or ideas.” The United States is an idea itself as expressed in the words of the Constitution and its amendments. We take an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, not to a person or party.

Article III, Section 3 of the Constitution tells us what treason is and how it must be proved, not just alleged: ”Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying War against them or in adhering to their enemies, giving them Aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act or on confession in open court.” As Justice Marshall wrote in Ex parte Bollman (1807): “To constitute that specific crime [treason], war must be actually levied… the mere enlisting of men, without assembling them, is not levying war.”

Unless you can fit the acts of which you complain squarely within the words of Article III, and can meet the proof requirement for the facts as to those acts, then call any conduct you dislike by whatever name you like, but don’t call it “treason,” regardless of whether you find yourself aligned with the party currently in power or the loyal opposition.

Our rule of law is defined not by personal offense or tribal loyalty, but by constitutional principle. It is not proven by speculation, partisanship, or hysteria. It is not a cult of personality.

What else would you call someone who incites a mob to attack the Capitol on and delay the certification of an electoral college? Vote to change the power of the presidency

Certainly sounds treasonous to me
