I love Brands' term "lavatory-stall philosophy." I used to be a regular at Scholz Garten here in Austin and enjoyed the wittier graffiti on the wall of the men's room. Examples I recall: "'God is dead.' Nietsche' 'Nietsche is dead,' God." Another: "God is love. Love is blind. Ray Charles is blind. Therefore, Ray Charles is God."
