I read every word of "The First American," and found it delightful. Your approach of American history via biography is compelling. To paraphrase your words (perhaps taking slight liberties) it is a path of less resistance. Then you hit us with a discussion of reparations and go in the opposite direction (because there can hardly be a more difficult topic). Great googly moogly! I love it!!
Whether and what to do about reparations is a question I am presently ill-equipped to answer. So, I whole-heartedly support running your volunteer experiment 🙂
