This will probably come across to most readers as a petty, nitpicking comment, but RE "money can buy . . . new puppies," I wish Dr. Brands had written in place of "new puppies," "a generous check to a no-kill animal shelter." My wife and I are cat people and always adopt from a no-kill shelter. I believe it's wrong to breed and sell dogs and cats when there are tens of thousands of adorable cats and dogs looking for a loving home.
