From my perspective Russia under Putin is more of a threat than China. I see China as a rival not an enemy. China will not take Taiwan by force. Not only does China not have the military capability but to attempt it would entail large destruction in Taiwan and why conquer a place for such destruction?
Russia, on the other hand, wants to reconstitute the USSR or Russian Empire. One need only read just the Wikipedia synopsis of Alexandre Dugin's Foundations of Geopolitics to see that playing out with the aggression in Ukraine and saber rattling comments about taking back the Baltic nations.
