I suppose I am that rare bird who strongly supports lawful abortion *and* thinks that Roe was a terrible decision. It has twisted our federal judiciary, with a prospective judge or justice's confirmation turning on the question of abortion, which is an important but proportionately small percentage of the matters with which federal judges must concern themselves. Yes, there will be a period of great angst over a reversal of Roe, if we get one (or we may just end up with a narrowing), but as it sorts itself out democratically in the states over the next few years my hope is that the abortion question will become far less important in the nomination and confirmation of federal judges.

Well said. Thankful I live in the great state of Massachusetts. But that highlights the challenge: I’m increasingly identifying with my STATE and my region than WITH my COUNTRY.
